Writing Comics for Teens and Tweens

As with other YA fiction, writing comic books for kids and teens has its
challenges and rewards. Comic creator ("13", "M.I.S.//ing", "Five Nations") and
publisher (Tumble Creek Press) DANI DIXON and award winning artist (2009 NAACP Image Award winner) and educator DAVID G. BROWN will discuss writing for, drawing, and
marketing to younger readers - and their parents.

Book Design

A fast paced talk detailing the design and production of books (with examples). I will share step-by-step logistics, issues, strategies, workflow and answer all questions with raw honesty. When I do talks, typically anecdotes and insights dominate the Q&A.

Screenplay Workshop

The screenwriter only has one chance to impress a producer, agent or manager. This one (1) hour workshop is for aspiring screenwriters who desire to learn what studios are looking for in a screenplay and for anyone interested in reading screenplays for a living. The participants will learn: How to “think” like a Script Reader. How to write a logline that will hook a reader. Five elements that must be in the first five (5) pages of a screenplay.

Writer's Workshop

Nine out of ten writers never finish their manuscripts because most first-time book writers get lost without good structure and planning. Knowledge Power Books publisher. Willa Robinson and selected published authors will guide future writers through a simple and successful book writing process that can take the attendees’ book from idea to publication. The workshop will be interactive with the attendees and the publisher will give a quick overview of what the workshop will consist of and each author present will share their reason for writing their book.
